What! This person gets paid R37 393 according to the financial report. Please is there anybody out there who can give me an intelligent answer as to what his job entails and more to the point: what has been achieved by this individual. Value for money – the standards inspector and ward councillor are of [...]

Name: SD What a con. Checking through the registry of domains for .co.za I can see that this and the security sites are owned by the same person. The stories are similar, as is the undehanded motivation involved. The select few, one in particular, who is preventing what the majority of residents want in the [...]

ASSOCIATION MATTERS It is clear that the fight in the Marina is far from over. The Councillors felt that there had not been enough public participation when the changes to the constitution were voted in and made a resolution “that the matter be referred back to the association for further investigation with the assistance of [...]

The councillor did not bother to reply to this open letter, so my question still remains un-answered – is he economically beneficial to us, the rate-payers. Dear Councillor Qually The following post will be placed on my website, onlyinsa.com by next week Friday. As our local Councillor I however would like to give you the [...]

Letter for Jan de Groote I understand that you receive quite a large salary from the Association and I read somewhere that you have sent over 600 letters out to the home owners in the area. You know, those obnoxious, derisive little letters, proclaiming the Marina to be a “very special place”, and telling everyone [...]

ExCom has decided the association has sufficient funds for a electric fence along the Marina’s northern boundary, according to one of their recent communications. Strange how these things only come about at the time of the AGM, when they have to account to their members. Quite frankly, the association is already incapable of maintaining the [...]

Marina Da Gama Headless Chicken Brigade If it was not so serious, the situation in Marina Da Gama would be laughable. Mr. Harrison and his merry band of Excom-members want their new little toy and no amount of logic, community- or government pressure is going to take it away from them. I am speaking about [...]

Apparently Marina Da Gama and surrounding areas like Muizenberg has a elected Ward Councillor. Who knew, and how these people get elected to these positions is a mystery. In the private sector job- security is dependent on performance and often many hours of overtime is spent without compensation. Except for getting a Fat Cat Salary, [...]

The Marina Da Gama suburb has been plagued with controversy over recent months. The Marina Association is headed by Harrison. Then those opposed to his “one for all security plan“. The Marina news pamphlet is like the old days of apartheid where a minority used its own print media for propaganda. Letters of opinion are [...]

Open Letter to the Chairman Dear Mr. Chairman and Excom I am a single mother with two school-going children. I live in a small house just off Prince George Drive. I don’t know you personally, so I can only judge you on what happened at the OGM and the AGM and what you have written [...]

More comments by residents: CDC: writes THIS ARGUMENT IS NOT ABOUT SECURITY IT IS ABOUT PROPERTY RIGHTS. I would beseech all the home owners within the Marina to avail themselves of the harsh reality of this proposal from the Association. It means riding roughshod over accepted property ownership norms. It means changing your home ownership [...]

Email comments to MarinaDaGamma@gmail.com Anita says: I am told that, as at 11 October 2007, there have been 1112 “hits” on this site in less than a week. Quite remarkable for a homeowners’ association with a membership of about 1 350. Well done, Marina residents, and keep the comments coming. My thanks to Warren who [...]

ExCom Quotes: I would like this opportunity to introduce you to the Executive Committee of the Marina Da Gama Association. This introduction lets them to speak for themselves by quotes taken from their newsletters, letters and communications with residents: WHAT THEY GOT RIGHT: This Association used to be a Mickey Mouse Association. ExCom Newletter quotes: EXCOM’S DERISION OF RESIDENTS About the objectors questioning the legitimacy of the Constitution. To date, ExCom has been unable to provide evidence that the Constitution is a valid, legal document. The time has come to expose those claims for what they are; a worthless charade devised by misguided people, intent only [...]

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION AND TRANSPARENCY Talk of a ‘Public Participation Process’ is misplaced; the Council itself accepts that changes to our constitution are a private matter between members, so there is no public to be consulted. There will be no referendum, and we don’t need any further interference from Council in our internal affairs. Peter Harrison [...]

Formal objection was hand-delivered to their registered domicilium.) -o0o- It is a great pity that despite all the hard work by many people [...]
